To my fellow male readers,
I know I may seem like a real buzzkill (after all I’m such a mean person for questioning the patriarchal system that secures your position of privilege in our everyday society), but I feel the need to write about the hypocrisy of men occasionally celebrating the International Women’s Day. I’d like to say that I’m sorry for possibly hurting your fragile masculinity, but the truth is that I really don’t give a damn.
In fact, you should know that celebrating women for just one day per year does not make you a true gentleman, but a cunthead. (And yes, stop using the word dick all the time. A little spoiler for you: we women are also equipped with a fully working reproductive organ, oh my God what a blasphemy I’ve just said! So why any word evoking our vagina is still considered a taboo? It’s just human nature, isn’t it?)

Breaking language barriers through the music.
The target has been hit in full with Papa Leu new album “WEEK IN DUB”, produced by the Salento independent label ADRIATIC SOUND.
On the frontline with a lot of topics and high quality music productions always, this time Papa Leu releases a soundtrack dedicated to every single day of the week, individually customized and on the dubline which makes every track peculiar, playing his skills with mixing techniques, musical mood, “sound aesthetics” inclined to original ways every time.
In this way, Papa Leu created his personal synthesis between experimental and “classic” style of dub to start a journey through an innovative sound that will drag people towards new unexplored destinations.

“Salento fuoco e fumo “è il primo romanzo scritto da Fernando Blasi, in arte Nandu Popu, pubblicato da Laterza nel 2012. Narra la storia di un ragazzo alle prese con le contraddizioni della sua terra: il Salento degli ulivi secolari, del Barocco e delle spiagge, ma anche dell’inquinamento e dei traffici illeciti orditi da politici e dalla Sacra Corona Unita.
Il romanzo riscuote successo soprattutto tra gli ambientalisti, i movimenti militanti, nelle scuole. Ben presto i giovani meridionali si identificano nella lotta e nelle aspirazioni del protagonista Mattia.
Nel 2014 Nandu Popu trasforma il libro in Unplugged Show, un monologo arrangiato da musiche e brani dei Sud Sound System che viene presentato in scuole, teatri e nel corso di molteplici eventi. Da questo incontro live tra musica e narrazione nasce l’idea del progetto “SALENTO FUOCO E FUMO DUB NOVEL”. Nella dub novel, già disponibile su tutte le piattaforme, gli 8 capitoli del libro vengono raccontati dalla voce dell’artista e accompagnati da musiche inedite arrangiate dai musicisti salentini: Marco Rollo alle tastiere, Luca Manno al sax, Papa Leu e Emanuele Pezzuto alla chitarra. Le tracce sono state registrate sotto la supervisione di Luca Bandirali al Mad Vibes Studio Recording e mixate da Altipiani.
