We met Konshens in Benicassim (Spain) during Rototom Sunsplash 2018, #25yearswalkingtogether Edition. We have interviewed him the day before of the performance with Dub Akom Band on the festival’s main stage. The worldwide dancehall paladin talks with us about his latest album “It feel good” out on all digital platforms since last March 2018.

ROTOTOM SUNSPLASH 2018 is #25YEARSWALKINGTOGETHER Edition

#25yearswalingtogether is the slogan created by Rototom Sunsplash to celebrate his 25 Edition. A fourth of century is already passed but not the memory of the places where everything was started : in Pordenone and Osoppo, Italy. Actually Rototom Sunsplash is organized every summer in Benicassim, Spain . In these 25 years a lot of people was reunited in the mighty name of the stars of reggae and their philosophy. More than 3.2 million people reached Rototom Sunsplash along the different editions, coming from all the Continents of the World. Today this Festival is considered the biggest one in Europe and one of the most important in the World. On the stage, along the different years, more than 2,300 artists alternated. This summer it will be exactly from 16th to the 22nd of August. ’25 years walking together ‘ means prestigious artists of the old and the new generation will be there performing in unity.

Julian Marley and the Uprising, Tarrus Riley, Jimmy Cliff, Spice, Cocoa Tea ft Koffee, The Mighty Diamonds, David Rodigan, Spice, Konshens are only some of the popular singers and bands will perform on the main stage or in the Dancehall area. But remember there are more than two stages. There are 5 options : Main Stage, Dancehall, Lion Stage, Dub Academy and Carribean Tempo. Plus Rototom Sunsplash is not only music. It’s even “Foro Social”, culture, experiences, great food, camping, African Village, Beach, workshops for dancehall dancers, social projects, press conferences, stands and many many more. That’s why we will delve into a different topic about Rototom #25yearswalkingtogether every week before it starts. We guess this edition must be rich of unforgettable vibes.

Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise 2018 / Third round of artists just announced

There are some news for the Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruisers ! The Third Round of Artists for the special 5th Year Anniversary was just announced. In the line up will perform some historical artists as Tarrus Riley, Bounty Killer, Skatalites, Ken Boothe, Horace Andy and Leroy Sibbles. The period of this edition is from Dec 1 to 6 to Jamaica on the Independence Of The Seas. More artists and activity announcements will come soon. If you didn’t check the first and the second round of artists you could do it now.

We’ll find on board all the Bob Marley’s legacy : Ziggy, Stephen, Julian, Ky Mani, Damian. Awesome combination. Other names will be Jah Cure, Chronixx, Agent Sasco and Shenseea.

The first announcements of the line up 2018 were about popular artists as the young talents Jesse Royal, Jah9, Kabaka Pyramid, the dancehall stars Aidonia, Konshens, Elephant Man plus Queen Ifrica and Third World.

DANCEHALL SPECIAL UK / Konshens & Charly Black @ The Coronet, London

Next friday 3rd february is Dancehall Special Uk. The coolest dancehall date of 2017 is coming soon: Konshens and Charly Black live at The Coronet Theatre. The place is located at 28 New Kent Road, Elephant and Castle tube station, London, England.

Konshens and Charly Black are two of the most representative singers of the actual jamaican dancehall scene. Their hits are now famous all over the world : from “Gal a Bubble” and “Bruk off yuh back” of Konshens to “Gyal you a Party animal” and “Hoiste and wine” of Charly Black. In fact all the english supporters are waiting for listen both, especially in combination on “Moskato Riddim”.

OUT NOW “SMILING FACES” / Nuovo singolo del jamaicano Blass per Yah Man Records

La prima release della label salentina Yah Man Records è uscita oggi ed è disponibile in tutti gli stores digitali. A cantare sulle note di Express Love Riddim ci sarà il cantante jamaicano Blass, uno degli artisti reggae e dancehall più versatili della scena attuale che sa passare con facilità da sonorità più hardcore a quelle più dolci. Già dalle scuole elementari Blass ha sempre dimostrato le sue doti canore fino ad arrivare a frequentare l’High School in cui tutti pur di sentirlo cantare gli offrivano i dollari che avevano a disposizione per la merenda o creavano strani strumenti musicali fatti di libri scolastici o matite per accompagnare la sua voce. Subito dopo il diploma Blass decide di far musica a livello professionale e mette su un gruppo con alcuni suoi ex compagni di classe chiamato Cell Block Crew. In poco tempo la maggior parte dei membri ha problemi di depressione e la crew viene così sciolta. Blass decide di continuare la sua carriera artistica in duo con Slash, unico personaggio della loro ex formazione ancora convinto della potenza del proprio sound. Nel 2008 avviene la prima collaborazione del duo con Vybz Kartel. Un fortunato featuring che porterà Blass a viaggiare tantissimo e ad arricchire il bagaglio delle proprie esperienze artistiche. Blass comincerà dunque la sua carriera da solista entrando in un circolo virtuoso che ancora oggi sembra non avere fine. Dal 2008 al 2016 è stato artefice di diverse hit in collaborazione con artisti e producers del panorama internazionale. Come ad esempio “So Many Girls” nel 2012 feat. Delus, ovvero il fratello del noto Konshens e “Hustlers Anthem” nel 2013 feat. Profecia Crew, un ensamble proveniente dalle Isole Canarie (Spagna). Attualmente è a lavoro con un gran numero di producers emergenti e famosi in Jamaica, Usa, Polonia, Africa e Italia. Non manca nella lista la label salentina Yah Man Records di Morello Selecta che ha voluto l’artista come primo ospite su Express Love Riddim.

EXPRESS LOVE RIDDIM ok

La base in questione è suonata da tre quarti dei musicisti della Bag a Riddim Band (Band ufficiale dei Sud Sound System). Troviamo infatti Fossa Drummer alla batteria, Maestro Garofalo alle tastiere, Papa Leu alla chitarra e lo stesso Morello Selecta al basso. Il singolo è stato registrato invece per metà in Italia, per metà in Jamaica e vanta i cori di Angela Garzia. Non vi resta che ascoltare nei link sottostanti il frutto di questa combination che unisce ancora una volta Salento e Giamaica:
