Damian Marley is coming back soon in Europe as every year. Rumor mill said that he is working on a brand new album in studio alongside his successful team but for this summer he is still promoting the awarded Stony Hill Album (released in July 2017). Stony Hill European Tour 2019 is starting next week from Uk. Exactly like last year, Jr. Gong will deliver his first set of shows in Great Britain, with a very special guest on stage as the Jamaican singer Assassin aka Agent Sasco. Assassin has dropped some months ago the brilliant album “Hope River” that received a lot of good feedbacks and highlights everywhere. Would be interesting assist to this combination during the first three shows in the major famous venues of England: O2 Academies. As Jr Gong’s fans could remember, last summer the Zilla performed in O2 Academy Ritz (Manchester); 02 Academy Leeds, O2 Academy Birmingham and obviously O2 Academy Brixton (London). This time he will be in different areas like O2 Academy Sheffield on the 30th of March, O2 Academy Bournemouth on the 31st and O2 Academy Bristol on the 1st of June (all the tickets in Bristol are sold out already). Then the 2nd of June he will finally return in the Capital, London, as special guest of a huge festival in Croydon Lloyd Park called The Ends. Damian will be the protagonist of the Festival’s last night.
While the protagonist of the first night at the End Festivals will be the American Rap-Star Nas who collaborated with Damian in the unforgettable album “Distant Relatives” (2012. It’s so sad to don’t see them in the line up together sharing the same stage and date, but there will be still a lot of great names opening and after Damian’s performance. Here the exact line up and legend of stages.
- Damian Jr Gong Marley
- J Balvin
- Burna Boy
- Mansur Brown
- The Compozers
- Jaz Karis
- Croydon Fm
Ends & Friends Stage

After the Ends Festival, Stony Hill Uk Tour 2019 will be accomplished and Damian will come on the other side of Europe with a gig in Bruxelles, Belgium on the 4th of June and one in Harleem, Netherlands on the 5th of June. Then, it will be a nice stop in Greece with a couple of shows there: 7th of June in Athens for Release Music Festival and on the 8th of June in Tessaloniki.
We can only guess how all the german, italian, french, austrian, swiss, swedish supporters would be disappointed to be unable to see their idol in their own cities. You could wait for the Europe Tour 2020 or if you truly love Bob Marley’s youngest son could still join the crew in the confirmed and mentioned shows. There is a congolese proverb that says :
“No matter how long the night, the day is sure to come”. This proverbs embodies the journey of Tres. Born and raised as an orphan in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tres had a nomadic life; moving from the couch of hostels to the harsh reality of the streets. While many of his counterparts fell to the same demise; Tres wanted to be different. Having observed the pain of the people and the violence that ever so plagued his area, he wanted to help. He acknowledged that he could make a change and figured the only solution would be to share a different message, one that would seep through their present pain. He wanted to bring some joy in a place where such a thing was foreign. Overall he wanted to make a difference!
At the age of nine, self discovery brought a solution to Tres and he realized that when he would sing, he would capture the attention of the people in his village. In this time, this became a boy’s dream and Tres concluded that this will be his life pursuit. Such dreams however couldn’t be actualized in his present environment. With ongoing political violence in his area, Tres made the bold decision to leave DR Congo at the age of 16, to pursue his dream and begin his musical journey.
In 2009, in an unexpected move, Tres performed for Prince William at Centerpoint Hostel. It was a half done performance which was enough to impress Prince William who later invited him to perform again at Clarence House. This was a breakthrough for Tres. This opportunity into the spotlight, landed appearances on the Nelson’s show, Sky News and This Morning followed.
Shortly after, he signed his first record deal with Roundhouse Records in 2010. Since then, he has supported The Black Keys while earning the nomination for Best Male UK based Afro/Caribbean Act of 2010 at the BEFFTA Awards.
In recent times, Tres musical ambitions continue to grow working with world renowned writers affiliated with the likes of Adele, Florence and the Machine, Santigold, Rihanna, Mikky Ekko, Alex Clare, Tom Odell, Jessie Ware, Ed Sheeran, Paolo Nutini to name a few. This expansion in this new territory has been lifted under new management. With new releases scheduled for 2017 , Tres is currently working on his new album under the direction of Plum Music. ‘Looking for love’ is the first official Videoclip of Tres released today on YouTube. The location of the video is in the cosmopolitan East London. The shootings were directed in coloured and artistic areas like Shoreditch, Brick Lane and Hackney Wick. A real hantem in favor of the love without prejudices and any form of racism.
In his own words Tres said : “For me, it was never about the popularity , it was about the music. My joy is that I get to share it”
Nice news for the mainstream afrobeat lovers from Uk. The afro star Davido will be live in concert next Saturday 17th of February in Birmingham. The brilliant singer from the ‘30 billion crew’ will perform for his English fans in the cool venue of The New Bingley Hall. The artist won in 2017 MTV Double Award (Winner Best African Act & Best Worldwide Act) and the famous Mobo Award (Winner Best African Act). So is understandable that the first and the second tickets releases are already sold out. For more tickets check the website : www.fatsoma.com
In open act will be Tres, the African new talent from Congo and popular for his new hit “Looking for Love”. His sound is a mix between an innovative pop and afrobeat. His history is also fascinating. There is a congolese proverb that says : “No matter how long the night, the day is sure to come” This proverbs embodies the journey of Tres. Born and raised as an orphan in the Democratic Republic of Congo as we said , Tres had a nomadic life; moving from the couch of hostels to the harsh reality of the streets. While many of his counterparts fell to the same demise; Tres wanted to be different. Having observed the pain of the people and the violence that ever so plagued his area, he wanted to help finding his peace and mission trough music. Today he is working on his solo project with Plum Music Company.
Can’t wait these good vibes.
