Biography
Masicka is known globally as a highly skilled and versatile dancehall artist from Jamaica who has been building his reputation in the culture or the past few years. With an appeal that can be compared only to the top performers in the genre, such as Vybz Kartel, Popcaan, Dexta Daps and others, Masicka is leading the pack of the new generation of artists from the Caribbean.
After building up an international buzz with north of 100 million streams independently and earning widespread acclaim, Jamaica-born and Miami-based multi-talented singer, songwriter, DJ and leader of the next generation of dancehall stars, Masicka released his latest track and video “Pieces” [feat. Jahshii] earlier this year.
Additionally, he officially announces his signing to Def Jam Recordings with “Pieces” as his first release under the newly minted deal.
Masicka continues to make waves. He recently received a YouTube Award for attracting over 1 million subscribers to his channel. Meanwhile, his most recent independent LP “438”, became “Jamaica’s #1 album of 2022 on Spotify” and “the first project to spend an entire year in the Top 10 on Apple Music Jamaica.” He also emerged as “one of three Jamaican artists in Spotify Wrapped Jamaica for a Top 10
Album”.
He is arguably the most sought-after dancehall artist in the world currently, headlining the biggest festivals/shows and gaining massive momentum in markets, outside of the typical reach of most dancehall artists. His trajectory shows that he’s on course to be
the next big breakout artist from that genre.
